Marching forward.

  • Mood: Nervous
  • Listening to: Some humming noise in the background
Well, I haven't written in a while. I didn't want to bring everyone down with my continued unemployment stories. So yes, I'm still unemployed. However, I have taken a part time temporary position scoring tests for a company in the next town over. My position there will end on June 3 unless I get picked up for another project. I've also applied for a 6 month temporary position here in town that will place me with a non-profit group helping people recover from the massive flooding from last summer.

But the real reason I'm writing now is that I was placed onto a team at my part time job and there was a guy that sat in front of me. Since I came in during the middle of the project, I don't know many people yet. We've since gone on to start new projects. And I saw him at break one day so I struck up a conversation with him. Security is very tight and we all have to wear scannable name badges while we are at work and I noticed his last name. I told him that I knew someone 20 years ago when I was in high school with that same last name. He was my art teacher and he put the first idea into my head about becoming an artist/designer by showing a video on what artists and designers do in this modern age. So as I'm talking to this guy, he says he has a brother with that same name who happens to be an art teacher. The real funny thing is that I'm not from this area and neither is he nor his brother. I asked him if his brother ever taught art in my home town and he said yes he did and it was about 20 years ago. Turns out it's the same person. How amazing is that??

Anyway, I was astonished. And it was great to be able to convey through his brother that I've enjoyed making/creating art and have had some incredible successes as a designer since having him as my teacher.
